Call for Abstracts - CLOSED


Thank you to all those who submitted abstracts for the CAPWHN Annual Clinical, Education, Research Conference, to be held October 12-14, 2017 in Halifax NS! We will be in touch with corresponding authors following the completion of the review process.


If you submitted an abstract but did not receive a confirmation of receipt, please email your submission (as an attachment) to CAPWHN as soon as possible.

The Canadian Association of Perinatal and Women’s Health Nurses (CAPWHN) invites health professionals in perinatal and women’s health who are members, non-members, and students to submit abstracts for presentation at the CAPWHN Annual Clinical, Education, Research Conference, to be held October 12-14, 2017 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.


Abstracts for oral and poster presentations are welcome in either English or French.


All abstracts are peer reviewed.


Abstracts must be submitted using the abstract submission form-fillable PDF (download available at the bottom of this page) no later than February 28, 2017 March 14, 2017.


The form may not download properly on Google Chrome or Firefox, due to the Adobe Viewer plug-in the browsers use. We recommend using Internet Explorer instead. 


Please note that the form was updated on February 16, 2017. If you are having any difficulty with the purpose box on page 1 or the abstract content box at the end of the form you are likely using an outdated form. Please refresh your screen and download the file below. If the form does not download please contact CAPWHN and a form will be emailed to you.


All accepted abstract presenters must register for the CAPWHN Annual Clinical, Education, Research Conference and pay the appropriate registration fee.


Conference Theme: A Gateway for Equity, Diversity, and Innovation


This conference will provide educational opportunities where participants can acknowledge and celebrate nursing expertise with a focus on advancing the care of women and their families through:

  1. Providing the gateway for networking that facilitates the sharing of knowledge and fosters building collaborative relationships.
  2. Enhancing nursing practice and the care of women and their families through the lens of diversity and equity.
  3. Exploring strategies that optimize the integration of innovation into quality nursing practice.
  4. Sharing exemplars where research evidence has been meaningfully and successfully translated into nursing practice.


Abstracts should address the conference theme and fit within one of the following categories:

  • Research (completed or in progress);
  • Innovative programs and processes;
  • Best practices and knowledge translation.

If the file still won't open, review the troubleshooting guide for various methods that should fix the issue. These options have been tested on Windows. Macs may require additional troubleshooting.
